Tactical Recon Units (TRU)
The Tactical Recon Units, or TRUs, are Earth’s elite multi-disciplinary teams designed for Leyweb traversal. Operating under the Resonant Contingency Directorate from Fort Resonance, these units combine military precision with scientific expertise to explore, secure, and analyze off-world environments. Each TRU is assembled from a mix of combat specialists, scientists, engineers, and cultural analysts, trained extensively in resonance protocols and the hazards of interdimensional travel.
Formed after the first stable corridor was achieved, TRUs are deployed based on mission type—ranging from first-contact reconnaissance to artifact recovery or diplomatic engagement. Their composition is shaped by operational focus: TRU-1 to TRU-3 handle first-entry exploration, TRU-4 to TRU-7 conduct follow-up operations and specialized missions, and TRU-8 to TRU-10 manage diplomacy, negotiation, and liaison work with allied or neutral worlds. Each TRU operates as a self-contained unit, with independent field capability, yet remains in constant link with Fort Resonance Command for mission oversight and pulse re-entry coordination.
TRU-1
Elite exploration and first-contact team specializing in high-risk, high-unknown corridors. They serve as the tip of Earth’s spear into the Leyweb, balancing scientific curiosity with combat readiness.
TRU-2
Secondary exploration unit tasked with rapid deployment to new nodes once stability is confirmed. Focuses on environmental mapping and hazard classification.
TRU-3
Hybrid exploration and recovery unit, often deployed to worlds with previous human presence or known artifact activity. Balances traversal science with salvage operations.
TRU-4
Follow-up operations team conducting detailed survey and infrastructure assessments. Often establishes temporary forward bases in safe zones.
TRU-5
Specialist follow-up unit focusing on biological sampling, planetary ecosystem analysis, and long-term environmental impact studies.
TRU-6
Hazard-response follow-up team, equipped for containment, quarantine, and controlled demolition in resonance-compromised zones.
TRU-7
Covert follow-up operations with emphasis on security, stealth traversal, and counter-intrusion in worlds with potential hostile presence.
TRU-8
Diplomatic engagement team, skilled in cross-cultural negotiation and alliance building with newly contacted civilizations.
TRU-9
Political liaison team operating in delicate environments where resonance access is contested or monitored by foreign powers.
TRU-10
Crisis diplomacy and dispute resolution unit, deployed in situations where interworld relations are at risk of collapse.
